Elevated Parking Corporation and Cron AI Unveil the World’s First Autonomous Parking Lift

Detroit, MI 4/14/24 – Elevated Parking Corporation, a leading provider of innovative parking solutions and software, has joined forces with Cron AI, a cutting-edge artificial intelligence company building next generation 3D perception platform to introduce the world’s first autonomous parking lift at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab (DSPL). The DSPL is a physical parking structure operated by NextEnergy and Park Rite, sponsored by Ford Motor, Bosch, State of Michigan and Bedrock Detroit. The DSPL offers an open innovative and collaborative site for real-world testing of parking-related mobility technologies, logistics, and electric vehicle charging.

The two companies aim to revolutionize the parking industry by harnessing the power of AI to create an efficient, seamless, and safe parking experience for parking valets.

This Autonomous Parking Solution, developed by Elevated Parking Corporation and integrated into Cron AI 3D perception infrastructure, combines state-of-the-art perception technology with deep learning algorithms.

Currently, parking garage valet attendants are required to exit the vehicle they are parking and manually press the raise or lower button each time they park or retrieve a car from the parking lift. This process can be time-consuming, taking up to five minutes for every car parked and retrieved.

However, with Elevated Parking Corp’s innovative PROvalet software app, this cumbersome task becomes a thing of the past. The valet attendant simply checks the driver in using the PROvalet software, which then prompts the attendant with the most efficient parking spot in the garage based on various factors.

As the valet drives towards the lift, the PROvalet software seamlessly communicates with the Cron AI real time 3D perception platform senseEDGE, which provides crucial data in the form of actionable insights to PROvalet, ensuring the safety of lowering the lift. Upon reaching the suggested parking spot, the lift is automatically lowered, eliminating the need for the valet to exit the car and manually operate the lift.

Once the valet parks the car on the lowered lift and safely exits the vehicle, he/she can effortlessly raise the platform using the PROvalet software app. This streamlined procedure saves approximately 3-5 minutes per parking maneuver, significantly improving efficiency. Moreover, this technology can also be integrated with autonomous cars in the future, further enhancing the parking experience as well as pedestrian safety.

With Elevated Parking’s PROvalet software, the Autonomous NoPost lift and Cron AI senseEDGE platform’s accurate, reliable and real-time detection, tracking and classification of cars, valet attendants can now provide a more efficient parking service, saving valuable time for both themselves and their customer.

About Cron AI
Cron AI is a deep tech company founded in 2016 specializing in 3D sensor perception. At the forefront of our innovation lies senseEDGE, an innovative deep learning first perception platform. senseEDGE unlocks the true potential of raw data from 3D sensors like lidars and provides unparalleled accuracy in object detection, classification, and tracking.  In the real world’s chaos, senseEDGE prevails, consistently providing dependable object data. It navigates complexity with precision, even in high density real world environments, setting new standards for reliability in 3D perception for applications like Intelligent transport systems, smart cities, spaces and mobility, security. The company’s vision extends beyond technology; it’s about reshaping the way one experiences and interacts with the environment. The technology is already deployed in Michigan. Michigan’s Detroit Smart Parking Lab has deployed Cron AI’s technology to enhance vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, improve safety, vehicle security, and pedestrian safety.

About Detroit Smart Parking Lab
Detroit Smart Parking Lab (DSPL) is a cutting-edge initiative focused on transforming parking and transportation solutions in urban environments. Through the integration of smart technology, sustainable practices, and community engagement, the Lab aims to create a more accessible, efficient, and environmentally friendly urban experience

Public-Private Partnership:
The DSPL is a public-private partnership between the State of Michigan, Bosch, Ford Motor Company and Bedrock Detroit, allowing the unique assets of each organization to support innovation in the space.

Multi-Modal Integration:
DSPL has successfully integrated charging infrastructure for various modes of transportation, including electric bikes. Supporting multimodal transportation and first/last-mile solutions for urban transportation.

Unique Funding Opportunities:
The DSPL is a part of the Michigan Office of Future Mobility’s test site network, which allows for companies to apply for grant funding through the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform (MMFP) to offset the cost of deploying in the lab. More than $600,000 in state-led grants through the MMFP have supported deployments in the DSPL since the launch of the project.

Elevated Parking Debuts at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab

When faced with limited building footprints, unfavorable soil conditions, high excavation costs, floor area ratio limits, height limits, or any combination of these conditions, mechanical parking solutions have the potential to not only achieve a more cost-effective parking solution, but can also be compatible with adaptive reuse should parking demand change in the future.

EPC’s projects at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab, demonstrate how certain mechanical parking systems in combination with autonomous valet vehicle parking can provide nearly three times the amount of parking over what could be achieved in the same space by traditional methods. By combining autonomous parking with mechanical parking, costs for construction, land and labor will be reduced allowing affordable urban parking.
